Home Visits

Home visits may be requested for bed bound patients. Please telephone before 10:30, giving the receptionist all the relevant details.

Please note that we are always able to examine patients better and can do more tests in the practice. Please try to make it to the surgery if you can.

The doctor may telephone you to assess whether a visit is required, and may either give advice, arrange a surgery appointment, or home visit, as appropriate. Please note that a doctor can see many more patients in the surgery, with all the necessary facilities for examination, in the same time it takes to do a visit.

Telephone Advice

If you feel you have a problem or query that can be dealt with over the phone and would prefer not to have to come into the surgery, you can request a telephone consultation. The receptionists will take your number and we would be happy to return your phone call the same day. If we feel it is not safe to deal with your problem on the phone they will always arrange for you to come into the surgery.

Short Guide: Do I Need a Home Visit?

A GP visit is not needed for the following common symptoms:

Fevers, cough, sore throat, earache, headache, diarrhoea and vomiting, most cases of abdominal pain.

In these instances most patients are usually well enough to travel.

Remember it is not harmful to wrap up a child with a fever and bring them to the surgery.

Adults with common problems as above are also readily transportable to the doctor's surgery.
